Attributes:

Might - Affects the amount of damage dealt by the character's physical attacks.
Speed - Affects the amount of time between turns in combat.
Stamina - Increases the chance to survive against death attacks, the amount healed by Regen, the amount of damage dealt by Poison, Sap, and HP Leak, amount of +HP gained per level, and step-healing recovery %.
Magic - Affects the amount of damage dealt by the character's magical attacks.
Attack - The total power behind the character's physical attacks.

Status:

KO'd - Character has 0 HP and cannot act.
Petrify - Character is turned to stone and cannot act.
Pig - All abilities except Battle and Item are disabled, and all spells except Hex are disabled.
Clear - Always dodge all physical attacks (even unblockable ones), but never dodge magic.
Poison - Periodically hits the affected with Poison damage which can stack.
Zombie - Character is uncontrollable, counts as dead for game over purposes.
Blind -  Halves the affected's hit rate and giving attacks vs the affected a 25% bonus to hit.
Psyche - The affected can't take action or evade attacks.
Seizure - Periodically damages the affected.
Confuse - The affected acts at random with inverted targeting.
Berserk - The affected attacks enemies uncontrollably with a physical damage bonus of +50%.
Silence - Can't use Magic.
Image - Dodges physical attacks, but each such dodge has a 25% chance of removing the status.
Near Fatal - Triggers some equipment special effects and gives a small chance of using a secret deathblow instead of attacking when using the Battle command. 
Condemned - Inflicts 'KO'd' when the timer runs out, harmless until then.
Reflect -  Reflects most, but not all, magic at half strength, without discriminating between harmful and helpful spells.
Protect - Physical damage taken reduced by approximately 1/3, except defense-ignoring attacks.
Shell - Magic damage taken reduced by approximately 1/3, except defense-ignoring attacks.
Stop - Time bar halts. The affected can't act or evade attacks.
Haste - Time bar fills more quickly (nearly 1/3 faster than usual), so turns come more often.
Slow - Time bar fills more slowly (half normal speed), so turns come less often.
Regen - Periodic small HP recovery. The effect is opposite that of the 'slip' status.
Float - Ground-based attacks miss automatically.
Reraise - Automatically casts the Raise spell on an KO'd character.
